Property prices in Houston continue to strengthen

Houston’s strengthening real estate market shows no signs of letting up next year, according to a report released this week.  The Texas Quarterly Housing Report, compiled by the Real Estate Centre, showed home prices rose by 7.4 per cent in the third quarter of 2014 and housing inventory remained low. From July through September, 23,645  homes sold throughout this area, an increase of 1.35 percent over the same period in 2013. The median price during that time was $198,700 while housing inventory fell to 2.9 months, the report said. US commercial property prices hit new highs

A report released last week showed US commercial property prices had now recovered to their pre-global financial crisis levels.  The recovery had been led largely by an increase in the value of apartment buildings and office space in central business districts.  The Moodys/RCA Commercial Property Price index released last week showed the national all-property composite index rose in September and was now 0.2 per cent higher than at its last peak in November 2007. The index had recovered a loss of more than 40 per cent since its lowest point in January 2010, Moodys said. Houston property number one to watch

A global accounting firm has named Houston, Texas as the top market to watch for commercial real estate investment in America 2015. The city was ranked at number two for housing market investment. PriceWaterhouseCoopers released their Emerging Trends in Real Estate in October and ranked Houston as number one for both investment and development expectations. The annual report basis its findings on research carried out with over 1000 real estate investors, fund managers and other industry professionals.
