Correction could be on the cards for Auckland housing

A leading New Zealand fund manager and economic commentator has picked Auckland house prices could drop by as much as 25 per cent.  Brian Gaynor, executive director of Shortland St-based Milford Asset Management who writes a column in the Herald Weekend Business told interest.co.nz's Gareth Vaughan that a big correction could be in store. Auckland housing less affordable than Los Angeles

New Zealand's biggest city, Auckland is one of the least affordable cities in the world for housing.  The Demographia survey, released this month, compares house prices in 378 cities around the round.  The survey found Auckland was less affordable than Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Perth. It was only slightly less affordable than London.  Auckland was one of the least affordable cities due to its high house prices and low incomes and it ranked at number nine. Hong Kong topped the list, which also had Sydney, Melbourne, San Francisco and Vancouver in the top ten. Texas tops relocation table

Texas has become the preferred state in America for people to relocate to.  The Texas Relocation Report showed that more people relocated to Texas last year than any other state in the US.  According to the report, Texas gained more out-of-state residents than any other state with 584,034 people moving to Texas from out of state. A majority of these residents originated from California (66,318), followed by Florida (32,619), Oklahoma (29,169), Louisiana (29,042), and Illinois (28,900).
